About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide high-quality care in an institutional setting. The Dental Assistant assists the dentist with inmate/resident treatment by preparing instruments, materials, and impressions; sterilizing instruments and the dental unit after treatment; maintaining supplies and equipment; and ensuring the work area is clean and sanitary. The role also includes reviewing dental services and patient status to help prevent duplicate or inappropriate services and ensure required interventions and treatments are completed.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent or greater.
• One year of dental assisting experience.
• Certificate or evidence of completion of a dental assistant training program, or other requirements meeting the criteria of the Dental Practice Act in the state of practice, in compliance with the contract or applicable statutes.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist with inmate/resident treatment by setting up instruments for each patient and treatment.
• Prepare impressions and filling materials.
• Sterilize the dental unit and instruments after each treatment and replace instruments before the next patient.
• Control medications, syringes, dental supplies, and equipment; perform inventory as required by established procedures.
• Keep equipment and the work area clean using appropriate sanitation methods.
• Review dental services provided to prevent inappropriate or duplicated services.
• Review inmate/resident status to ensure necessary interventions, treatments, and services are completed.
