About The Position

The Mercer Center for IDD Care is seeking a Dental Assistant for its Macon, Georgia clinic. The center provides outpatient care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a welcoming environment designed to make patients feel safe, respected, and valued. Services include primary care, dental care, audiology, imaging, and physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The Dental Assistant supports the dentist with clinical, administrative, and compliance-related work to help ensure efficient operations and high-quality patient care. The role includes assisting with procedures, preparing treatment rooms, maintaining patient records, preparing and sterilizing instruments, and providing front-office support as needed. The position is externally funded, and its duration depends on the continuation of those funds. Mercer expects employees to serve in person to support collaboration and service to students and the broader university community.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of dental assisting experience.
Valid CPR/BLS certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization procedures.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
Manual dexterity to handle and operate dental instruments.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
