About The Position

Northwest Michigan Health Services, Inc. (NMHSI), a nonprofit community health center serving Northwest Michigan for over 50 years, is hiring a Dental Assistant for its dental team in Traverse City, Michigan. The role is 32 to 40 hours per week and involves supporting patient-centered dental care. The Dental Assistant helps prepare patients and treatment rooms, assists dentists and hygienists, maintains infection control and equipment, and supports patient education, records, scheduling, and insurance processes. Benefits eligibility begins 30 days after hire; the Employee Assistance Program is available immediately.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of Dental Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and treatment rooms for dental procedures.
• Assist dentists and hygienists during exams and treatments.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards.
• Take diagnostic x-rays and record medical and dental histories.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care.
• Maintain accurate patient records.
• Support scheduling and insurance processes.
• Help ensure dental equipment is clean, functional, and properly maintained.
