About The Position

Salud is seeking a Full-Time Temporary Dental Assistant to work from the Date of Hire to 12/31/26. This role performs duties that assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include reception, chairside assisting, inventory, and records management. The dental practice is lively, and the Dental Assistant is expected to treat patients with utmost respect and concern for their physical, emotional, and mental well-being, while fostering a fun and vibrant atmosphere. A positive attitude and modern dentistry can bring joy to patients.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.
  • Must be radiology certified through a state-approved radiology program, within the timeframe set by Dental Department standards.
  • Successful completion of Salud Family Health Center Ladder’s program is required.
  • Successful achievement of the Registered Dental Assistant Program certification is required.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers from one of the following organizations: American Heart Association; American Safety and Health Institute; or American Red Cross.
  • An ability and willingness to learn.
  • A desire to expand abilities.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to motivate patients.
  • Must work well with the other patient care team members.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
  • Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous dental assistant experience is desired, but not required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Performs duties in the field of reception.
  • Performs duties in the field of chairside assisting.
  • Performs duties in the field of inventory.
  • Performs duties in the field of records management.
  • Prepares the treatment room.
  • Maintains the schedule and ensures the team is sticking to it.
  • Interacts with patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assists the dentist chairside.
  • Reliably takes diagnostic digital X-rays in a timely fashion.
  • Operates, maintains, and documents in the electronic record.
