About The Position

Temporary Dental Assistant needed for a Full-Time Temporary assignment from the Date of Hire to 12/31/26. This role performs duties that assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include reception, chairside assisting, inventory, and records management. The dental practice is lively, and the Dental Assistant treats patients with respect and concern for their well-being, fostering a fun and vibrant atmosphere. A positive attitude and modern dentistry contribute to patient joy. Daily tasks involve preparing the treatment room, maintaining the schedule, interacting with patients before, during, and after procedures, and assisting the dentist chairside.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.
  • Must be radiology certified through a state-approved radiology program, within the timeframe set by Dental Department standards.
  • Successful completion of Salud Family Health Center Ladder’s program is required.
  • Successful achievement of the Registered Dental Assistant Program certification is required.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers from one of the following organizations: American Heart Association; American Safety and Health Institute; or American Red Cross.
  • Ability and willingness to learn.
  • A desire to expand abilities.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to motivate patients.
  • Must work well with the other patient care team members.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
  • Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous dental assistant experience is desired, but not required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • May be required to travel to other clinics based on staffing shortages.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Perform duties in reception.
  • Perform chairside assisting.
  • Manage inventory.
  • Maintain patient records.
  • Prepare the treatment room.
  • Maintain the schedule and ensure the team adheres to it.
  • Interact with patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist the dentist chairside.
  • Reliably take diagnostic digital X-rays in a timely fashion.
  • Operate, maintain, and document in the electronic record.
