About The Position

Smile New York Outreach is seeking a Dental Assistant for its school-based mobile dental practice in Brooklyn, NY, and surrounding areas. The role helps provide dental care to underserved children at their schools. Dental clinics operate in school settings, where suitable spaces such as classrooms, auditoriums, or gyms are transformed into functional dental offices. The workday follows the school day, typically about 6–7 hours and averaging 8:00 A.M.–3:00 P.M., with evenings, weekends, and summers off. The position involves traveling daily to school sites and working with a small team. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

Requirements

• CPR certification card.
• Working experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Working experience with digital X-rays.
• Experience with patient charting, including paper forms and charting tooth surfaces.
• Valid ID and willingness to travel to schools within the boroughs.
• Ability to work well with children.
• Ability to work as a team member on a small team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Dental Assistant certification is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide dental assisting services during mobile dental clinics.
