About The Position

Performs those duties that assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in the care and treatment of patients. Performs duties in the field of reception, chairside assisting, inventory, and records. Our dental practice is quite lively. A positive attitude, and modern dentistry, can bring joy to our patients. A Dental Assistant does a lot over the course of a workday. For example, you prepare the treatment room; you maintain the schedule and ensure the team is sticking to it; you interact with patients before, during, and after procedures; and you assist the dentist chairside. And these are just some of the many duties on your plate.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent is required.
  • Must be radiology certified through a state-approved radiology program, within the timeframe set by Dental Department standards.
  • Successful completion of Salud Family Health Center Ladder’s program is required.
  • Successful achievement of the Registered Dental Assistant Program certification is required.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers from one of the following organizations: American Heart Association; American Safety and Health Institute; or American Red Cross.
  • An ability and willingness to learn.
  • A desire to expand abilities.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to motivate patients.
  • Must work well with the other patient care team members.
  • Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous dental assistant experience is desired.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dental Director, Dentists, and Dental Hygienists in patient care and treatment.
  • Perform duties in reception, chairside assisting, inventory, and records management.
  • Prepare the treatment room.
  • Maintain the schedule and ensure the team adheres to it.
  • Interact with patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist the dentist chairside.
  • Operate, maintain, and document in the electronic record.
  • Reliably take diagnostic digital X-rays in a timely fashion.
