About The Position

NiteLines USA is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide dental assisting services for the inmate population at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Edgefield in Edgefield, South Carolina. Requirements

• Specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school.
• Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.
• Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services.
• Must be able to pass a federal background check (which may take 30-90 days).

Responsibilities

• Perform chair-side dental assistance in operative, prosthetics, endodontics, periodontics, radiology, and oral surgery.
• Retrieve and examine patient records and escort patients to the dental treatment room.
• Seat and prepare patients for the Dental Officer, obtain health history, and interview patients regarding dental issues.
• Take patient blood pressure and temperature if indicated.
• Assist the Dental Officer in direct patient care, including preparing instruments, medicaments, and materials.
• Pass dental instruments, retract tissues, irrigate the oral cavity, and operate the dental aspirator.
• Observe patient responses during dental procedures and instruct patients on pre- and post-dental treatment.
• Assist in scheduling dental patients and make necessary entries on dental treatment records, including Electronic Medical Records.
• Prepare the dental treatment room for the next patient.
• Assist in the treatment of emergency cases.
• Maintain dental equipment by cleaning, sharpening, and sterilizing instruments.
• Perform daily inspections of equipment and make minor repairs.
