About The Position

Long Wharf Dental is seeking a Dental Assistant in New Haven, Connecticut, to support the clinical team by providing a high level of patient care and satisfaction in a team-based environment. The role supports dentists during procedures, helps patients understand oral hygiene and post-treatment care, and assists with radiography, diagnostics, records, and compliance. The position is full-time, with a schedule of Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The stated hourly pay range is $23 to $28.

Requirements

At least 2 years of on-the-job experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.

Nice To Haves

X-ray certification is preferred.
Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
Welcome and comfort patients, and educate them on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake when needed.
Help dentists manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and an emergency telephone directory.
