About The Position

Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) is seeking a Full-time Dental Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a team player with previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting serving underserved populations. Compassion for and an understanding of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness is essential. The DA team utilizes rotating schedules, engaging in both outreach work in the field and clinic-based services. They operate under a harm reduction model, focusing on holistic patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration to connect patients with internal and external resources. The team is passionate about public health and the population they serve. AHCH may cover Dental Assistant Training costs for qualified candidates in exchange for a 2-year employment commitment.

Requirements

• Background in customer service or dental (MA, CNA, DA, etc)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Flexibility to work with multiple providers
• Ability to thrive in a complex healthcare setting
• Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues for those experiencing homelessness is a must.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program with current X-ray certification
• Experience working with underserved populations or people experiencing homelessness
• Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed philosophies
• Bilingual or Spanish Speaking

Responsibilities

• Works in rotating schedules doing Outreach work in the field and in our Clinic.
• Works from a harm reduction model and believes in meeting people where they are at.
• Views patient care holistically and works in a multidisciplinary fashion to connect our patients to various resources within our organization and without.
