About The Position
Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Dental Assistant Trainee to participate in their Dental Assistant Training Program. This role involves learning and supporting the delivery of quality dental care under supervision. The trainee will assist providers with patient care, infection control, radiology, documentation, patient education, and basic clinic operations, while developing the skills necessary to become a Dental Assistant I.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Enrollment in the Sea Mar Dental Assistant Training Program
- Current Washington State Dental Assistant Registration required
- Current BLS/CPR certification for adults and infants required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist dental providers with chairside procedures and patient care
- Learn dental terminology, instruments, materials, and clinical procedures
- Follow infection control and sterilization protocols
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) and maintain radiology standards
- Provide patient education and pre/post-treatment instructions
- Complete accurate charting and documentation in Epic
- Support scheduling, phone communication, and front desk functions as needed
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Complete all required training and competency requirements for advancement to Dental Assistant I
