About The Position
Assists the Director of Dental Health Programs and/or Public Health Hygienist at the WVU HSC, Eastern Division’s Dental Program. Accompanies the Dentist to school visits and transcribes information provided. Provides office assistance in preparing paperwork for the follow-up after said school visits. Provides oral health education to school-age children under the direction of the Dentist.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Assist providers during patient examination and treatment as instructed
- Greets patients and prepares for exam by ensuring patients are properly seated, draped and aligned for examination
- Transfers dental instruments and supplies to provider during treatment.
- Maintains a clean, dry oral operating field by using high velocity evacuation systems
- Prepares, mixes, measures and dispenses various materials as instructed during dental procedures
- Ensures all equipment is clean, sanitized and disinfected at all times
- Obtains dental supplies and instruments from stock area
- Prepares and arranges dental instruments, materials and medication for use during patient care
- Ensure that all instrumentation is sterilized by appropriate methods
- Returns instruments and equipment to appropriate area
- Sets up and assists with a wide variety of highly specialized patient care procedures in a high specialized patient care environments
- Records treatment procedures or other information within the electronic record, obtaining prompt electronic provider approvals as necessary
- Provides administrative support and assistance as needed in order to meet the operational needs of the clinics.
