About The Position

This is a full-time Dental Assistant position in Waco, TX. The role involves assisting dentists and hygienists with chairside procedures, preparing instruments and materials, exposing and processing radiographs, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining equipment and work areas. The position also includes scheduling patients, performing reception duties, recording patient information, processing encounters, and assisting with billing and bookkeeping. Additionally, the role may involve identifying medical/social problems, filling out insurance forms, ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies, and attending dental conferences. The job requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of accredited certification dental assisting course preferred.
  • Current Registered Dental Assistant Certificate as established by the State of Texas.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Visual and auditory accuracy.
  • Extensive standing and walking.
  • Frequent squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, climbing.
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Frequent telephone usage.
  • Continuous conversational communication.
  • Continuous repetitive grasping and manipulation of both hands.
  • Occasional working in confined, noisy areas.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling and positioning patients up to 200 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling and positioning (with assistance) patients over 200 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to electrical, chemical, gaseous and dusty conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to patients with communicable diseases.
  • Infrequent use of personal transportation.
  • Ability to understand and carry out simple/detailed, oral/written instructions.
  • Ability to memorize and retain instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed specifications.
  • Able to respond quickly and calmly in medical emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assists dentists and hygienists in chairside procedures routinely done in a general dental practice.
  • Prepares and sets up instruments, materials, and equipment necessary for each procedure.
  • Exposes and processes dental radiographs.
  • Sterilizes instruments, and cleans and maintains equipment and work areas.
  • Schedules patients, performs routine reception work, and accurately records information on patient records.
  • Implements the processing of encounters and billing and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Identifies related medical and/or social problems and fills out insurance forms.
  • Orders supplies and materials.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and materials and documentation of inventory.
  • Attends conferences and meetings of dental importance as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
