Perform a variety of dental assisting duties to promote quality dental care.
Requirements
Basic mathematics skills.
Ability to work with people of all ages.
Completion of a Dental Assistant Training Program (internal or external) OR at least one year of experience working as a dental assistant.
Current CPR and first aid response certificates required.
Responsibilities
Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment and operatories, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist dentist during dental procedures
Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients
Take and expose dental diagnostic x-rays
Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts; pour study casts.
Assist dentist in management of the medical and dental emergencies.
Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
Apply topical fluoride to teeth.
Provide post-operative instructions prescribed by dentist.
Receive supplies, stock cabinets and inventory supplies.
Clean and tidy work area as required.
Follow KPHC Dental Clinic practice guidelines
Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned
Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
