About The Position

Hero Practice Services is seeking Dental Assistant Externs to gain experience with various dental procedures in a pediatric office. The position is open only to students enrolled in an accredited dental assisting program. Upon successful completion of externship hours, externs may be hired as full-time dental assistants. The position reports to the Operations Manager and is at-will, meaning either party may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or prior notice. Other duties supporting the business and its mission may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a dental assisting program.
• Proven work experience in customer or patient service, or the ability and desire to learn.
• Strong interpersonal skills and desire for professional growth.
• Organized and possess knowledge of dentistry.

Responsibilities

• Track externship hours and timesheets.
• Record patient charting and the dentist’s notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms and instruments, monitor the schedule for efficiency, and educate patients on dental procedures.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient-centric working environment.
• Comply with applicable state, federal, and other regulations, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and the employee handbook.
• Keep the practice clean and presentable for patients, including cleaning restrooms and the patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Perform other duties that support the business and its mission as assigned.
