About The Position

Hero Practice Services is seeking Dental Assistant Externs to gain experience with various dental procedures in a pediatric office. The position is open only to students enrolled in an accredited dental assisting program and reports to the Operations Manager. After successfully completing the required externship hours, externs may be hired as full-time dental assistants. The position is at-will, meaning either the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or prior notice. Externs may also be asked to perform other duties that support the business and its mission.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an accredited dental assisting program.
• Proven work experience in customer or patient service, or the ability and desire to learn.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire for professional growth.
• Organized, with knowledge of dentistry.

Responsibilities

• Track externship hours and timesheets.
• Record patient charting and the dentist’s notes in the digital patient chart, as directed by the dentist.
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms and instruments.
• Monitor the schedule for efficiency and educate patients on dental procedures.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient-centric working environment.
• Comply with applicable state, federal, and other regulations, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and the employee handbook.
• Keep the practice clean and presentable, including cleaning restrooms and the patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
