About The Position

Hero Practice Services is seeking Dental Assistant Externs to gain experience with various facets of dental procedures in a pediatric office. Upon successful completion of externship hours, externs may be hired as full-time dental assistants. The role is open only to students enrolled in an accredited dental assisting program and reports to the Operations Manager. The position is at-will, meaning either the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or prior notice. Other duties supporting the business and its mission may also be assigned.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an accredited dental assisting program.
• Proven work experience in customer or patient service, or the ability and desire to learn.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire for professional growth.
• Organized and possess knowledge of dentistry.

Responsibilities

• Track externship hours and timesheets.
• Record patient charting and the dentist’s notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms and instruments, monitor the schedule for efficiency, and educate patients on dental procedures.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient-centric working environment.
• Comply with applicable state, federal, and other regulations, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and the employee handbook.
• Keep the practice clean and presentable, including cleaning restrooms and the patient lobby, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Perform other duties that support the business and its mission.
