About The Position

Community Health Service, Inc (CHSI) is seeking a motivated individual interested in beginning a career in dental assisting through the Minnesota Association of Community Health Centers (MNACHC) Dental Assistant Apprenticeship Program. This full-time apprenticeship provides an opportunity to earn while you learn. The selected apprentice will be employed by CHSI while participating in the MNACHC Dental Assistant Apprenticeship Program, which combines structured education with supervised, hands-on training in a clinical dental setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Interest in pursuing a career in dental assisting
• Ability to participate in and successfully complete the MNACHC Dental Assistant Apprenticeship Program
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependable, organized, and willing to learn
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
• Previous dental assisting experience is not required

Responsibilities

• Assisting dentists and dental team members during patient care
• Preparing treatment rooms for dental procedures
• Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment
• Following infection prevention and safety procedures
• Preparing patients for dental treatment
• Learning dental charting and documentation
• Maintaining dental supplies and treatment areas
• Providing professional and compassionate service to patients
• Completing required apprenticeship coursework and training
• Participating in supervised on-the-job training with an assigned coach
• Performing other duties appropriate to the apprenticeship program
