About The Position

St. Louis South Oral Surgery is a high-volume, tech-forward Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) practice seeking an anesthesia-trained dentist passionate about perioperative care in an oral-surgery setting. The role involves providing in-office IV and general anesthesia for a variety of procedures including full-arch implants, third molars, grafting, facial trauma, and select cosmetic procedures. The practice utilizes state-of-the-art monitoring and equipment, and offers a dedicated OR suite, certified anesthesia assistants, paperless charting, and a full ACLS crash cart. This position offers a growth track with potential leadership in developing a regional anesthesia service line and optional equity in future satellite locations.

Requirements

  • DDS/DMD + CODA-accredited Dental Anesthesiology residency.
  • Board-Certified/Board-Eligible by ADASA/ABDA (or equivalent).
  • Active Missouri dental & conscious/deep sedation permits (or eligibility within 120 days).
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS.
  • Documented experience with high-volume dentoalveolar or implant anesthesia (>500 cases preferred).
  • Calm, engaging chairside manner; thrives in a fast-growing entrepreneurial culture.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations (ASA I–III primarily).
  • Administer IV moderate, deep sedation & GA; manage airways (LMA, nasal/oral intubation).
  • Continuously monitor patients using AAOMS & ASA standards; document anesthesia records for optimal insurance reimbursement.
  • Direct and train DAANCE-certified assistants; champion safety drills & mock codes.
  • Collaborate with surgeon on scheduling efficiencies, case turnover, and post-op pain protocols.
  • Maintain DEA, MO dental, sedation permits, and board certification/recertification.
