Under the general direction of a Licensed Team Member, performs a variety of clinical and clerical tasks in support of clinical care activities in a dental outpatient environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or High School Student in good academic standing required Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventory of equipment, instruments and supplies.
  • Assists with replacements/repairs.
  • Maximizes room utilization through inventory, stocking, cleaning of operatories, and daily preparation of dental units.
  • Maintains cleanliness of waiting room.
  • Anticipates and prepares equipment, material, and supply needs in consideration of patient/procedure complexity in support of timely and efficient clinic operations and provider schedules.
  • Contacts patients to schedule/reschedule patient appointments.
  • Maintains accurate demographic information in the scheduling system.
  • Notifies of patient arrival and escorts patients through the clinic.
  • Provides special assistance for non-ambulatory patients.
  • Follows standard clinical safety protocol for Patient Identification Verification.
  • Enters patient data into the electronic medical record.
  • Reviews discharge instructions with patient as prepared by provider.
  • Implements standard infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene and surface decontamination, in accordance with EIOH infection prevention policy.
  • Performs basic dental laboratory procedures such as model pouring for dentures and partials.
  • Collects data for quality improvement/departmental studies.
  • Supports and assists in research as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
