About The Position

The Denim Cutter is responsible for all steps in the denim cutting process, including rolling, cutting, folding, and repairing fabric. The role supports production schedules by preparing denim and related materials, organizing completed work, and staging bundles for downstream cutting and sewing operations. The employee maintains supplies, reports quality or safety concerns, follows machine safety procedures, and keeps the work area orderly.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous cutting experience is a plus.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to work in noisy environments.
Manual dexterity to assemble products or operate machines as directed.
Ability to frequently lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and rarely lift or carry objects weighing 51–75 pounds.

Responsibilities

Roll out, cut, label, and fold denim, fiber, girdle, and softique.
Cut repair denim and softique as needed.
Use the schedule summary to determine required work.
Complete each schedule before starting the next to maintain workflow to cutters and sewers.
Fold and store denim in the proper bins.
Match denim bundles with the correct cover on the buggy and cover, and stage them for leather cutters.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and inform the leader when supplies are needed or running low.
Work with maintenance on knife repair.
Report defective or shaded goods to the supervisor.
Do not adjust patterns; refer pattern adjustments to Product Development.
Keep the work area neat and orderly.
Work safely and wear required personal protective equipment.
Use lockout/tagout procedures before beginning setups or machine adjustments.
Report unsafe conditions or practices to the supervisor or lead person.
Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor or lead person.
