About The Position

The Demand Planning Manager leads the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) demand stream, responsible for developing accurate forecasts based on industry trends and demand patterns. This role involves collecting data from internal and external sources on factors affecting demand and implementing solutions to improve forecasting accuracy. The manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Finance, to incorporate supply constraints, sales risks and opportunities, and marketing programs. The goal is to ensure the overall forecast aligns with financial targets.

Requirements

  • At least Bachelor’s degree graduate in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Economics or any related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in demand planning, supply chain management, Sales and Operations Plans (S&OP) or related field.
  • Progressive and extensive work experience or proven track record of success in demand planning, supply chain management, or S&OP.
  • Demonstrated record of improving forecast accuracy and inventory accuracy.
  • Experience implementing or using forecasting systems or planning tools (e.g. Anaplan, SAB IBP, Excel-based modules).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in statistical forecasting methods and data analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of demand planning software and tools (e.g., SAP APO, ANAPLAN, IBP, etc) including complementary tools such as Power Business Intelligence (Power BI), Power Query, etc.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP ECC/S4HANA preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or professional certification.
  • Professional certification (i.e. American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or its equivalent or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional)).
  • Six Sigma or Lean Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, measure, and document historical sales outliers.
  • Establish statistical baseline forecasts per BU product.
  • Communicate statistical product forecast changes to stakeholders.
  • Consolidate critical forecast assumptions (new stores, product introductions, campaigns, programs).
  • Capture other assumptions affecting forecasts (seasonality, events).
  • Consolidate Bill of Materials (BOM) assumptions.
  • Update demand planning models to generate store pull-out projections.
  • Coordinate with relevant functions to ensure correctness of BOM and other forecast assumptions.
  • Generate and analyze WAPE (Weighted Average Percentage Error) and Forecast Bias.
  • Identify key forecast error drivers and provide recommendations.
  • Identify near expiring and non-moving products.
  • Lead and facilitate demand review discussions with Business Units (BUs).
  • Ensure alignment on key assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
  • Secure demand plan approval from BU heads.
  • Communicate the approved unconstrained demand plan to stakeholders.
  • Document risks and opportunities for tactical and strategic horizons.
  • Ensure timely submission of Sales & Operations reports and demand inputs.
  • Communicate agreed action plans from Demand Review to BU teams.
  • Define clear accountability for action plans and ensure timely closure.
  • Provide timely advice to Supply Planning on critical forecast deviations.
  • Coordinate with BU Marketing and stakeholders to drive forecast achievement.
  • Secure alignment and approval for handling sales plan exceptions.
  • Lead gap analysis and action planning for BU-level issues.
  • Review and assess demand variability and identify risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Present demand plan issues requiring SBU head sign-off.
  • Recommend action steps and coordinate with BU teams to address risks.
  • Drive stakeholders to improve forecast accuracy and assumptions.
  • Provide and deliver monthly demand reports summarizing forecasts vs. actuals.
  • Present demand scenario planning outcomes to assess market situations.
