About The Position

Gulfeagle Supply is a family-owned distributor of residential and commercial roofing and building products, serving professional contractors as well as homeowners, building owners, architects, and general contractors. The Delivery Material Handler works alongside a driver to ensure building materials are delivered properly to job sites using a forklift, crane, conveyor, or by hand. The role includes loading, securing, verifying, transporting, and unloading materials; assisting the driver at delivery sites; and placing materials on rooftops when required. The handler helps prepare delivery equipment, supports inventory and maintenance activities, follows OSHA and safety requirements, and assists customers with materials and delivery-related issues. The position reports directly to the Branch Manager and indirectly to the District Manager and Safety team on specified branch, personnel, fleet, and safety matters. The work may involve walking varying distances, climbing ladders up to 40 feet, working on roofs with pitches up to 8/12, handling materials weighing up to 100 pounds continually for periods of up to two hours, and working in hot, cold, rainy, or sunny conditions. Requirements

Read, write, and comprehend English or Spanish, as required by the branch location.
Knowledge of roofing materials and/or construction and distribution.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds of material continually for up to two hours at a time.
Ability to work on multi-story buildings at various heights.
Ability to work in hot, cold, rainy, or sunny weather.
High degree of attention to ensure correct deliveries and prevent damage to materials and equipment.
Ability to maintain loyalty to Gulfeagle Supply.
Ability to interact with the public courteously and professionally, using tact and diplomacy with customer personnel at delivery points.
Ability to perform all job functions safely.
Must pass substance-abuse screening and is subject to random screening under company policy.

Responsibilities

Load or assist with loading and securing materials on trucks each day.
Assist in verifying material quantities for accuracy.
Assist the driver in locating job sites and spot the driver when backing into a site.
Direct the driver in positioning the conveyor.
Unload or assist in unloading materials using a forklift, crane, conveyor, or by hand; walk varying distances as site conditions require.
Climb ladders up to 40 feet to deliver materials to roofs with pitches up to 8/12 when required.
Stack and distribute materials properly on roofs.
Prepare trucks for delivery, including filling the cooler, strapping materials, and loading the ladder and other needed items.
Comply with OSHA requirements as they relate to oneself and the company.
Assist with quarterly or as-needed inventory counts.
Maintain the warehouse, yard, and trucks in a presentable condition and perform minor repairs as needed.
Handle materials safely and use appropriate safety devices, including a back brace, gloves, and safety shoes.
Help ensure safe vehicle operation and protect customer and company property.
Assist customers with materials and report delivery problems, service issues, and other concerns as needed.
