This job is responsible for planning and coordinating the execution of project/small program deliverables which requires the engagement of multiple teams. Key responsibilities include communicating work objectives, coordinating delivery, facilitating sync points across teams, providing end-to-end visibility into the health of the deliverables, and managing program risk and compliance to standards. Job expectations include ensuring delivery meets the client’s expectations in terms of the functionality, quality, timeline, and cost. Position Summary: Technical Project Managers (TPMs) drive our end-to-end infrastructure projects to build new or enhance existing platforms running our client facing applications. TPMs own project management oversight for infrastructure service solutions including virtual and physical hardware (Bare Metal, VM, Container, Cloud), network, middleware, data base, storage, capacity planning, and monitoring. They actively manage the work efforts of multiple cross functional resources through their project plan. The TPM initiates and maintains reporting relationships with project stakeholders including team members, peers, managers, vendors, and other affected departments to coordinate efforts across multiple business units and ensure continuous efficient management of projects. TPMs coordinate work with other teams such as Environments Management, Release Management, Performance Testing, Capacity Management, and others to deliver Pre-Prod through Production environments. TPMs are also responsible for the creation and management of the project schedule (work breakdown structure), milestones, status reporting, risks/issue management and mitigation. They coordinate infrastructure technology delivery with design teams, build teams, application teams, and network teams. Successful TPMs take the time to understand what is driving their project, what this project means to the Bank, and the end-to-end schedule for the project. They establish mutually agreeable timelines and gain commitment from key project team members for delivery timelines. They actively facilitate technical discussions with the project team. A successful TPM can communicate to management any technical issues that are impeding their project, what actions are needed and who is taking those actions to resolve the issue. They also can quickly adapt to what impact this issue has on the project timeline and make recommendations if the timeline needs to be adjusted. Successful TPMs also own detailed WBS's with dates, dependencies, ownership, and committed task durations. They keep this WBS current and frequently review the WBS with the project team validating commitment and they publish meeting minutes and capture action items from the meeting. Effective TPMs are inquisitive - they ask clarifying questions and research the basics of unfamiliar technology to broaden their technical acumen. TPMs assist in capital procurement in compliance with the company’s financial practices.
