Delivery Helper/Operator
About The Position
The Delivery Helper loads materials, locates jobsites, assists with backing procedures, prepares and restores jobsites, and prepares the truck for the following day while maintaining the truck and equipment. The role makes frequent local trips to customer jobsites and works primarily outdoors at jobsites and customer locations. Work conditions include varying weather, dust, noise, moving equipment, and other conditions common to construction supply and building materials operations. The employee reports to the department manager and has no direct reports. The position requires safe handling and delivery of building materials, adherence to applicable safety procedures, and effective teamwork and communication.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate information accurately.
- Ability to safely load, unload, and handle building materials.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- 0–1 years of experience in delivery, warehouse, construction, or a related field.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in construction, building materials, delivery, warehouse, or a related industry.
- Familiarity with material handling and jobsite safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Comply with company, state, and federal guidelines, particularly OSHA and DOT requirements, to support the safety of all personnel.
- Perform pre-trip inspections of equipment, paperwork, and loaded product to ensure order accuracy.
- Safely unload product and deliver materials to the assigned area as directed by the customer.
- Secure mud, equipment, metal, pallets, and other materials on the truck.
- Navigate routes to jobsites.
- Help maintain trucks and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
- Help prepare trucks and materials for the following day's deliveries.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
