About The Position
The Delivery Expert delivers customer orders by car to addresses within a designated delivery area and completes store-team duties. The role offers a flexible schedule and opportunities for advancement, including into management. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. Team members may operate equipment, stock ingredients and supplies, prepare products, take and process telephone orders, complete inventory and paperwork, and clean equipment and the facility. Delivery work includes bringing orders to customers, delivering flyers and door hangers, and navigating homes, multi-story buildings, stairs, and other delivery sites. The work involves standing, walking, lifting and carrying supplies and orders, pushing or pulling trays, bending, reaching, and occasionally climbing stairs or ladders. Team members may encounter varying weather, hot equipment and surfaces, cold and hot work areas, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. The role requires communication with customers and coworkers, accurate order entry and money handling, navigation, and the ability to work independently or with others under stress.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Must have access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
- Must have navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Must be able to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders over the phone and in person.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly; a calculator may be used.
- Ability to make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Motor coordination to make precise, rapid movements with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Ability to work alone and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality standards, and make judgments and decisions.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, crouching, and reaching.
- Ability to carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds and navigate five or more flights of stairs during some deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Deliver products by car to customers within the designated delivery area and bring orders to the customer's door.
- Deliver flyers and door hangers.
- Operate store equipment.
- Stock ingredients and supplies from the delivery area to storage and work areas, including the walk-in cooler.
- Prepare products.
- Receive and process telephone orders, and communicate with customers and coworkers in person and by phone.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
- Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and move supplies to shelves.
- Navigate delivery locations, including adverse terrain and multi-story buildings.
