About The Position

The Delivery Driver operates equipment, stocks ingredients, prepares products, processes telephone orders, takes inventory, completes paperwork, and cleans equipment and the facility. The role delivers products by car to customers, and distributes flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided.

The work involves in-store and delivery duties in varying conditions, including exposure to adverse weather, changing temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Most tasks are performed standing, with walking, driving, carrying, lifting, pushing, climbing, bending, crouching, and reaching as needed. Delivery routes may include private homes, multi-story buildings, and stairs.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
• Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
• Ability to understand and give correct written instructions.
• Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders by telephone and in person.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly and make correct monetary change.
• Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
• Motor coordination to make precise, rapid movements with the eyes, hands, and fingers.
• Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
• Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
• Ability to work independently and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, and make judgments and decisions.
• Ability to perform the physical duties described, including lifting and carrying product and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, and navigating stairs during deliveries.
• Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces and perform work requiring near- and mid-range vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment.
• Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
• Prepare product.
• Receive and process telephone orders.
• Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
• Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
• Deliver products by car to customers’ doors within a designated delivery area.
• Deliver flyers and door hangers.
• Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and stock supplies.
• Navigate delivery sites, including stairs and other challenging terrain.
