About The Position

This role involves cleaning, disinfecting, and functionally checking medical equipment. The Delivery Driver will deliver and instruct home care customers on the use of medical equipment and supplies in their residences, while also providing patient care services. The position requires safe driving and maintenance of company vehicles, with availability for scheduled work hours between 9 am and 10 pm daily. Responsibilities include loading and staging delivery vehicles, selecting ordered medical equipment and supplies, and prioritizing deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls efficiently. The driver will educate customers on equipment usage through demonstrations, interact with patients of various ages, perform assessments, document customer responses and outcomes, and complete plans of care. The role also involves collecting patient information, referring service complaints, and communicating with customers. Participation in operational improvement activities and e-learning programs is expected, along with effective collaboration with colleagues and adherence to company mission, vision, and goal statements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three months industry related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must demonstrate proficient ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must demonstrate practical knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes applicable to the industry.
  • Applicant must have a clean state criminal background and federal sex offender check, clean drug test, valid driver’s license and pass a driving skill test.
  • Applicant is expected to demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental program structure (Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements) and department policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as needed, and have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently without supervision.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID, or be willing to become fully vaccinated.
  • Must demonstrate proficient ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide.
  • Applicant must demonstrate the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations and effectively present and debate any assortment of information relevant to their area of expertise and designated responsibilities and duties with members of the Company and on behalf of the Company when appropriate.
  • Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, which may include but is not limited to: computers and various mechanical equipment and/or devices.
  • Requires the ability to safely operate a company vehicle; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; strength to lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials, computer screens and road signs; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone; manual dexterity to perform job functions and stamina to frequently sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate proficient ability to understand, interpret, and apply an extensive array of complex mathematical instruction and information through analytical collection of factual data to produce logical solutions and/or conclusions where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must demonstrate proficient ability and practical knowledge of personal computer use, word processing software, spreadsheet software, and inventory software.
  • Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to quickly and proficiently learn to use company specific software programs and any other handheld or technology tools as required for completing job tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drives and maintains company vehicles.

  • Prioritizes and coordinates deliveries, pick-ups, and service calls in an efficient manner.
  • Educates home care customers and other end users on medical equipment and supply use by covering key operating features and performing demonstrations.
  • Interacts with patients and customers that may be of various ages.
  • Performs assessments and reassessments of each customer’s care or service needs.
  • Documents the customer’s response to care or services provided, the actions and interventions taken, and the outcomes of the care or services provided.
  • Completes plans of care as appropriate to the level of care provided.
  • Collects accurate patient information to support care, service and treatment operations, which includes demographic, billing, and medical information.
  • Refers service complaints and compliments to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicates with company’s customers that may be of various ages.
  • Participates in Improvement of Operational Performance (IOP) activities.
  • Participates in traditional and e-learning programs.
  • Works effectively with other company employees, managers, and departments.
  • Performs all job functions with Company Mission, Vision, and Goal Statements in mind.
