About The Position
The Delivery Driver operates equipment, stocks ingredients and supplies, prepares products, processes telephone orders, takes inventory, and completes related paperwork. The role includes cleaning equipment and the facility, delivering products by car to customers, and distributing flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The position involves working in a restaurant environment with varied temperatures, food-related odors and dust, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Duties are performed largely standing and include walking, driving, carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling trays, reaching, and occasional bending, crouching, and stair climbing. Deliveries may involve navigating adverse terrain, multi-story buildings, and five or more flights of stairs while carrying products.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
- Ability to comprehend and provide correct written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders by phone and in person.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly, make correct monetary change, and use a calculator if needed.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Motor coordination to make precise, rapid movements with the eyes, hands, and fingers.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery locations, while carrying products.
- Ability to work alone and with others, perform repetitive tasks, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
- Ability to lift and handle deliveries weighing up to 50 pounds and perform the physical tasks described for the role.
Responsibilities
- Operate all equipment.
- Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
- Prepare products.
- Receive and process telephone orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
- Deliver products by car to customers’ doors within the designated delivery area.
- Deliver flyers and door hangers.
- Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and stock cases on shelves.
- Perform other store tasks, including cleaning and maintenance as needed.
