About The Position

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Daytime Delivery Driver to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. The driver will be responsible for completing deliveries to pre-assigned customers daily, with routes subject to change. This role requires early morning reporting, route completion, and flexibility to assist other drivers or perform additional deliveries as needed. The driver must adhere to all safety regulations, including pre/post-trip inspections, proper loading/unloading techniques, and safe driving practices. Verification of accurate product delivery and payment collection (excluding cash) is essential. Outstanding customer service and maintaining professional relationships with clients are key. The position involves physical demands such as heavy lifting, carrying product, and various physical activities throughout the day, in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe. The driver must be at least 21 years of age with prior driving experience and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certification and Driver's License.

Requirements

  • Must be able to report to work on time at 5:00 AM and work until route completion.
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed (while complying with FMCSA hours of service regulations).
  • Must be available to assist other drivers or perform additional deliveries when required.
  • Must be able to read, write and apply basic mathematical skills to calculate changes to invoices.
  • Position will require heavy lifting, carrying cases of product alone and with aid of a hand truck.
  • Position will require sitting, standing, driving, walking, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching.
  • Drivers will be required to deliver in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe by company management.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have 1-year prior driving experience with a box truck or larger type vehicle.
  • Must have and be able to maintain valid DOT Medical Certification.
  • Must have and be able to maintain valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to read, write and use basic math skills to interpret and calculate changes to invoices.
  • Must be able to pass background check (i.e. police backgrounds, reference checks…)
  • Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record: Cannot have more than 2 moving violations/accidents or super speeder in last 3 years. Cannot have DUI, reckless driving or hit-and-run in last 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Complete deliveries to pre-assigned customers on a daily basis.
  • Conduct pre/post trip inspections and properly log any defects.
  • Apply proper safety techniques while climbing in/out of box truck and loading/unloading cases of product.
  • Down stack load throughout the day utilizing load bar and secure vehicle at all times.
  • Observe all federal and state traffic laws and drive with caution to avoid causing breakage and shifting merchandise.
  • Verify accurate product is delivered to the appropriate recipient.
  • Verify accurate funds are received at the time of delivery (drivers will not accept cash).
  • Provide outstanding customer service and maintain professional business relationship with customers.
  • Assist other drivers with routes when required.
  • Communicate with dispatch and supervisors to provide delivery status information and if any issues arise.
