About The Position

The Delivery Driver is responsible for loading product onto a truck at the Distribution Center and preparing it for delivery. This role involves performing pre-trip inspections of vehicles, trailers, and cargo to ensure they are in good working order and that the cargo is undamaged. The driver will deliver product from the Distribution Center to customers' locations, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and local roads. Responsibilities also include unloading product, inspecting cargo, completing required documentation, and adhering to all Company driving policies and procedures. The driver must remain compliant with all testing and licensing requirements and maintain accurate driver logs according to DOT regulations. Reporting vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage is also a key part of the role. The ideal candidate will understand and demonstrate Advance Auto Parts' Core Values.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 25 years old.
  • Clean driving record or Good MVR at least 3 years.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum two year experience driving heavy box trucks or three years’ experience driving tractor trailers required.
  • CDL license required – Class A.
  • Haz-Mat endorsement required.

Nice To Haves

  • Use equipment such as forklift and pallet jack to load trucks, and remain certified to operate all such equipment.
  • Adhere to established safe driving guidelines.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe manner, following all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Ability to back up into tight situations such as Blind Side or Busy Street.
  • Work safely & well with yourself and others including: Backhaul Vendors, DC Team Members, Store Team Members, Motoring Public, Fellow Drivers.
  • Defensive Driver Training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Load product onto truck at the Distribution Center and prepares for delivery.
  • May be required to use power equipment, such as a forklift or pallet jack, to load the truck.
  • Perform pre-trip inspection of vehicles, trailers, and cargo to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order, and to ensure that cargo is undamaged and all load-related documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Inspect tractor-trailer for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition.
  • Inspect bill of lading and store keys for accuracy in off-hour delivery.
  • Inspect trailer to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport of product.
  • Deliver product from the Distribution Center to the customers’ location, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area.
  • Drive tractor-trailer to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises.
  • Unload product from truck to customers’ dock, inspecting cargo and completing required documentation.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in adherence with established Company driving policies and procedures.
  • Remains compliant with Company, state and federal testing and licensing requirements, submitting proof as requested.
  • Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, and exceptions.
  • Unload trailer, delivering product into customer premises.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles as required per company policies.
