About The Position
The Delivery Driver operates equipment and supports food preparation and store operations, including stocking ingredients, processing telephone orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning equipment and the facility. The role delivers products by car to customers’ doors and distributes flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The position involves working in a restaurant environment with exposure to changing temperatures, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Work includes standing, walking, sitting for paperwork, driving, lifting and carrying supplies and customer orders, pushing or pulling trays, and occasionally climbing stairs or ladders. Delivery routes may involve adverse terrain, multi-story buildings, and five or more flights of stairs.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for delivery.
- Ability to understand and give correct written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders by telephone and in person.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly, using a calculator if needed, and make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Motor coordination between eyes and hands or fingers to make precise movements rapidly and accurately.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Ability to navigate adverse terrain and delivery sites while carrying products.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet quality standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
- Ability to lift and handle deliveries that may weigh up to 50 pounds and stock items on shelves up to 72 inches high.
Responsibilities
- Operate all equipment.
- Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
- Prepare product.
- Receive and process telephone orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
- Deliver products by car to customers’ doors within a designated delivery area.
- Deliver flyers and door hangers.
- Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and stock supplies on shelves.
- Navigate delivery sites, including multi-story buildings and stairs.
