About The Position

US Foods is seeking a Delivery Driver Lead/Trainer to join their team. This role involves conducting classroom onboarding for new drivers, participating in the Safety Performance Team, and training/mentoring new drivers on company policies and procedures. The position also includes performing customer site visits, partnering with warehouse supervisors, conducting post-accident ride-alongs for root cause analysis and retraining, and participating in offsite training. The role requires satisfactory completion of all company-mandated trainings, including the US Foods Driver Onboarding program. Additionally, the Delivery Driver Lead Trainer will safely drive trucks to customers, meet scheduled delivery times, unload products, verify delivery accuracy, handle collections and payments, and perform customer service responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom onboarding for new drivers.
  • Participate in the Safety Performance Team and ensure that safety is a key focus.
  • Train and mentor new drivers on company policies, procedures, and monitor compliance/performance.
  • Perform customer site visits to determine feasibility of delivery.
  • Partner with the Night Warehouse Supervisors on safety and visual aids/demonstrations.
  • Perform post-accident ride-a longs with drivers to assist in identifying root cause analysis and re-training as necessary.
  • Participate in offsite training and developmental opportunities.
  • Safely drive trucks to customers and meet scheduled customer delivery times.
  • Carefully unload products from the trailer with a two-wheeler, pallet jack, or by hand and place in designated customer storage areas.
  • Verify accuracy of delivery with customers and obtain proper signatures.
  • Handle collections and payments from customers when applicable.
  • Professionally perform customer service responsibilities to enhance our client experience.
