About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is seeking a Delivery Driver CDL for their Gorman Company trade name in Tampa, FL. This role is ideal for individuals who are friendly, thrive on customer service, are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and enjoy working independently. The driver will be responsible for safely operating trucks, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining the vehicle.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven.
  • Have a hazmat endorsement if operating a vehicle that requires placarding for hazardous materials.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years thereafter.
  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 26,001 lbs.
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles, especially commercial vehicles subject to DOT regulations.
  • Be able to safely operate any delivery vehicle, including commercial motor vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or more.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to various locations.
  • Load Hajoca merchandise onto the truck, secure the load properly, and ensure necessary unloading equipment is available.
  • Affix appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 lbs.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it as directed by the customer, obtaining a signature per policy.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries before releasing material.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies.
  • Load the truck with merchandise from vendor locations, customer returns, and other wholesalers.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and its parts for safe operating condition before departure and keep the truck clean.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles over 10,001 lbs. GVWR if a defect is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
