About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is seeking a Delivery Driver CDL for their Gorman Company trade name in Tampa, FL. This role is ideal for individuals who are friendly, thrive on customer service, are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and enjoy working independently. The driver will be responsible for safely operating trucks, loading and unloading merchandise, ensuring order accuracy, collecting payments, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining the vehicle.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven.
Have a hazmat endorsement if operating a vehicle that requires placarding for hazardous materials.
Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver.
Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years thereafter.
Be able to drive a vehicle over 26,001 lbs.
Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles, especially commercial vehicles subject to DOT regulations.
Be able to safely operate any delivery vehicle, including commercial motor vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or more.
Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
Read, write, speak and understand English.
Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations, delivering to various locations.
Load Hajoca merchandise onto the truck, secure the load properly, and ensure necessary unloading equipment is available.
Affix appropriate DOT hazmat truck placards if hauling hazardous materials in excess of 1,000 lbs.
Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it as directed by the customer, obtaining a signature per policy.
Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries before releasing material.
Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies.
Load the truck with merchandise from vendor locations, customer returns, and other wholesalers.
Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
Inspect the truck and its parts for safe operating condition before departure and keep the truck clean.
Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report for vehicles over 10,001 lbs. GVWR if a defect is found.
Remove keys from the truck at the end of the workday and store them in the approved location.
Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
