About The Position

Washington County's Department of Facilities, Fleet, and Parks is looking for an experienced Mail Delivery Clerk to join the Mail and Print Services team in distributing mail and parcels to government colleagues within county owned and leased buildings. The Delivery Clerk will join a small team who work together to sort inbound mail and parcels, in preparation to follow routine foot and driving routes that deliver those materials to colleagues throughout County government, collecting any outbound mail and parcels along the way. When in the warehouse, Delivery Clerks will be processing outbound mail for submission to the Post Office or to a large-volume mail presort vendor, and will receive deliveries from carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and Amazon in an efficient and professional manner. This position is budgeted at the Delivery Clerk II, journey level, however Facilities is happy to underfill the position at the Delivery Clerk I level depending on the candidate pool and business needs. If hired at the I level, the Delivery Clerk will be evaluated for placement into the II level at the end of the probationary period. The Delivery Clerk I/II will be able to operate a forklift or be able to learn to operate a forklift to retrieve, transport, and store materials. This is a core function of the position. Candidate must be able to pass an extensive background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of related experience (for Delivery Clerk II).
  • One (1) year of work experience as a courier, delivery driver, or in a warehousing related field (for Delivery Clerk I).
  • Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background check conducted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer physical abilities assessment prior to appointment.
  • Skills to drive and deliver supplies, equipment, and materials in any weather condition.
  • Skills to safely use moving/loading equipment such as electric pallet jacks, hand trucks; dollies, and other hand tools.
  • Skills to operate automated mail metering equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy and bulky items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to push and pull items weighing up to 80 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to learn to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
