About The Position
Valley Natural Foods, a community-owned cooperative in Burnsville, is looking for a dependable and upbeat Part-Time Deli Service Counter team member. This role involves connecting with people, working with fresh food, and contributing to a welcoming, community-owned grocery store that values quality, cooperation, and great service.
Requirements
- Must be 18+ years old
- Friendly disposition, excellent service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Evening and weekend availability is required
- Regular, predictable attendance
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Previous customer service and/or cash handling experience
- Familiarity with natural foods, grocery industry or cooperatives
Nice To Haves
- Food service or retail experience is a plus—but we’re happy to train the right person!
- Flexibility to pick up additional shifts is a plus!
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with friendly, attentive service at our deli counter
- Serve hot bar, cold case, and grab-and-go items with care and attention to portioning and presentation
- Slice meats and cheeses to order and prepare sandwiches and sides
- Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards in all areas
- Work cooperatively with other deli team members to support smooth, efficient operations
