About The Position

The Deli Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day functions of the service deli, ensuring compliance with product quality, sanitation, and safety standards. This role involves managing staff, inventory, customer relations, and operational tasks within the deli department.

  • Requires knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Must have knowledge of taste, content and perishability of products, safety and sanitation procedures, and department policies and procedures.
  • Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order products, plan sales, input inventory and schedules, and print labels.
  • Utilizes cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Utilizes safety cutters and knives.
  • Requires use of latex and heat resistance gloves.
  • Knowledge of profit and loss statements.
  • Good attendance is required.
  • Job responsibilities include tasks or duties that could affect the safety or health of the employee performing the task or others.

Responsibilities

  • Champion company and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
  • Handle customer relations in a positive manner, including effective resolution of customer complaints.
  • Promote the company's philosophy of personalized service in the service deli.
  • Supervise the day-to-day functions of the service deli.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all service deli sections and initiate corrective measures to ensure compliance with product quality, rotation, in-stock conditions, code date standards, temperature, sanitation, and safety requirements.
  • Assist with all service deli duties such as receiving, cleaning, preparing, cooking, slicing, and packaging.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Control shrink and expenses.
  • Accurately complete and monitor daily log sheet, purchase report, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork and logs.
  • Maintain records on ad items movement.
  • Order, check, receive, and control inventory to ensure adequate proper inventory level, product quality and freshness, and to prevent the sale of out-of-code product.
  • Take periodic inventories, process administrative paperwork, and maintain accurate department records.
  • Maintain and organize the service deli work area, cooler, and freezer.
  • Ensure proper merchandising of product by understanding and implementing schematics, merchandising of advertised items, proper signing procedures, and monitoring product flow.
  • Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company policies.
  • Follow company policy in handling re-worked and reduced-to-clear items.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local health and food safety standards.
  • Assist customers by taking and filling special orders.
  • Make product suggestions and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Make intercom announcements.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, equipment, and retail cases.
  • Assist with answering and responding to incoming calls appropriately.
  • Receive and appropriately resolve customer complaints and report to the Store Director as appropriate.
  • Assist with implementing emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
  • Schedule service deli associates to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Ensure that all associates are trained and instructed in the proper performance of work duties.
  • Monitor associate performance and report observations to the Store Director.
  • Report associate complaints to the Store Director and assist with resolution.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning associates, store sales, and other company information.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
