About The Position

The Deli Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Deli Department, and/or Seafood or Bakery, ensuring smooth operations, product freshness, and customer satisfaction. This high-demand role requires a solid understanding of deli operations, merchandising, and food safety standards. Key duties include managing staff, maintaining inventory, and ensuring that quality and safety standards are consistently met.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in computer systems including Microsoft Office for inventory management, sales tracking, and reporting, with strong math skills to forecast sales, and analyze P&L.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, employees, and management.
  • Dedicated to providing exceptional customer service through prompt issue resolution and customer focused approach.

Nice To Haves

  • ServSafe Certified or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Deli or related fields preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring proper receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and building of displays.
  • Ensuring all products are properly rotated, including refrigerated, non-refrigerated, and freezer items.
  • Utilizing fryers, ovens, and stoves to prepare various hot food items with quality standards.
  • Accurately cutting, slicing, weighing, and packaging deli products in alignment with company standards, quality expectations, and customer needs.
  • Accurately packaging hot food items based on customer requests, ensuring proper portioning and presentation.
  • Ensuring department shelving and display units are maintained, cleaned, and organized.
  • Performing and managing all orders for the department and responsibly managing inventory levels.
  • Conducting an inventory of the department monthly.
  • Managing inventory, pricing, and sales strategies to ensure the department meets or exceeds targeted profit margins.
  • Implementing effective merchandising strategies to optimize product presentation while actively monitoring and reducing inventory shrinkage.
  • Maintaining proper labeling of all department items, including proper listing of ingredients and Company code/date policies.
  • Observing temperatures of coolers, cases, and freezers and reporting failures to management promptly.
  • Following and instilling food safety practices and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with established procedures, practices, sales, safety, and security according to A.G. Supermarkets, Inc. policies.
  • Strictly adhering to all safety, health, weight, and measure regulations.
  • Ensuring clean equipment, tables, floors, grinders, coolers, and production areas as required to exceed Food Safety requirements.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, and disciplining associates.
  • Formulating a weekly schedule, including breaks and lunches for employees.
  • Performing annual reviews on employees within your department.
  • Visiting competitor establishments periodically to gather insights on product offerings, pricing strategies, and merchandising ideas to inform and enhance departmental operations.
  • Ensuring equipment is working correctly, including safety features, and reporting any safety hazards immediately.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required.
