About The Position

The Deli Manager is responsible for ensuring operational success at all levels in the Deli. The Deli Manager is responsible for properly ordering and receiving shipment that is delivered to their location, per the Lassens Receiving Procedure, ensuring inventory within their department is accurate. The Deli Manager is the foremost authority on all Deli products Lassens provides, and leads the Deli Team with passion for those products. The Deli Manager creates and maintains department displays, ensures all pricing is accurate by placing the correct shelf tags and sale signs throughout the department, and shares their knowledge of Lassens monthly AD’s and sales in the Deli Department with customers. The Deli Manager provides leadership for all aspects of the Deli, including Team Member development and accountability. Deli Managers accomplish targeted labor, growth, and sales margins.

Requirements

  • A passion and depth of knowledge of all things food, in particular specialty foods such as Organic, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Free Range, etc.
  • Ability to instruct others in a constructive and positive manner
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work as a team; ability to communicate effectively with customers
  • Able to lead and motivate a diverse group of Team Members
  • Strong knowledge of email, spreadsheets, and Word
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness
  • Must be self motivated and solution oriented with effective time management skills
  • Display proper handling and understanding of knife and other cutting equipment
  • Ability to properly handle high amounts of stress and large volumes of customers while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude and disposition
  • Flexible work schedule to meet department needs

Responsibilities

  • Give customers immediate and undivided attention
  • Work with the Store Manager to create and maintain a labor schedule to leverage productivity within the needs of the department.
  • Ensure food quality and proper presentation of all food items and that recipes are followed accurately.
  • Reports any and all violations of policy and unsafe working are reported to the Manager On Duty or Store Manager immediately upon discovery
  • Follow all food safety regulations including proper labeling, dating, storage and rotation
  • Strictly adhere to all recipes, instruction cards and maps & schematic guidelines
  • Achieve required sales, margin, expense and labor targets
  • Know product availability, preparation, storage and nutritional aspects and ensure product mix meets varied customer dietary needs and requests
  • Ensure department orders for equipment, supplies and products are timely and accurate
  • Maintain accurate retail pricing and signage
  • Communicate company goals and information to Team Members
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding all operation and performance issues, verbally and through email documentation.
  • Keep the Store Manager informed of all events that affect the department
  • Schedules and leads department team meetings; attends store and regional meetings
  • Observes all deli policies, procedures, safety rules, cleanliness and sanitation, and Weight and Measures directives.
  • All other duties assigned by management.
