About The Position

As a Deli Clerk, you prepare fresh food and provide friendly, efficient customer service. You help customers choose deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and prepared items; slice meats; and prepare grab-and-go options. You also stock the department, prepare hot and cold items, maintain clean and organized displays, and monitor product freshness and temperature. The role involves taking orders, working with equipment, and staying active in a fast-paced environment.

This is an entry-level position with advancement opportunity. Duties and skills may vary by store, and the official job description will be provided during the application process.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to operate slicers and food preparation equipment following training and safety guidelines.
• Basic math skills for weighing, portioning, and transactions.
• Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfort standing for extended periods, lifting products up to 35 pounds, and working in varying temperatures.
• Clear communication, attention to detail, organization, time management, adaptability, and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior food service or customer service experience.
• Experience preparing deli products, including slicing, assembling, and portioning.
• Knowledge of deli meats, cheeses, prepared foods, and hot case items.
• Cash-handling experience using register systems.

Responsibilities

• Help customers select deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and prepared items, and take orders in person or by phone.
• Prepare deli products by slicing, assembling, portioning, and preparing hot and cold items and grab-and-go options.
• Stock the department and maintain clean, organized, and visually consistent displays.
• Monitor product freshness and temperature.
• Process transactions and make accurate change using register systems where applicable.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, company procedures, and equipment safety guidelines.
