About The Position

To ensure the highest level of service possible to Willy Street Co-op’s internal and external customers. To assist the Department Manager by providing first-line supervision, support, training and oversight of staff and to be the primary provider of support and problem solving for the day-to-day operations of the department. To ensure effective buying, receiving, and stocking of products. To provide operational and customer service training to new employees and to set an example of leadership and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide product selection to meet customer, seasonal, and holiday demand.
  • Order product efficiently, balancing full displays, optimal product freshness, and minimal loss.
  • Order and establish proper inventory levels for packaging and supplies.
  • Keep accurate records of vendors and their product offerings.
  • Oversee product receiving to ensure that accurate invoicing, pricing, credits and returns, coding, and invoice routing is executed.
  • Maintain accurate and complete department signage.
  • Assist in determining optimal staffing levels in line with approved labor to sales ratios.
  • Train staff and provide break coverage.
  • Communicate major staff concerns or issues to management.
  • Ensure that staff follow proper stocking and merchandising procedures.
  • Ensure staff follow health department codes and sanitary practices.
  • Assign cleaning projects and other tasks during down time.
  • Greet and offer assistance to customers.
  • Treat people fairly, consistently and with respect.
  • Know product locations in order to assist customers in finding what they need throughout the store.
  • Abide by all co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents.
  • Participate in required training and meetings.
  • Keep store orderly and clean.
  • Maintain a positive attitude; set a positive example for all employees.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
