About The Position

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission is hiring a full-time Deli Cook. This position is responsible for the preparation and delivery of salads, desserts and beverages to shelter guests, program participants, and staff at our central campus. Deli Cooks provide continuous positive Christian leadership while working with a staff of participants from the life skills program and volunteers to ensure the quality and efficiency of services offered.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge of food and safety standards
  • ServSafe certified preferred
  • Previous kitchen experience preferred
  • Must understand proper temperature control and temperature monitoring in food service
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
  • Exhibit courtesy, tact, and reasonable speed in performance of duties
  • Be energetic, patient, precise and attentive to customers
  • Reliability, dependability, and punctuality are expected
  • A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and delivery of salads, dessert and other cold side items in a courteous customer service orientated manner
  • Coordinate workflow and activities of assigned areas to ensure an efficient work environment
  • Identify, resolve, and report potential problems which result in poor quality, waste, or deviation from standards
  • Follow proper personal hygiene and sanitation procedures that are necessary for the safe and sanitary handling of food
  • Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature
  • Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a safe and sanitary condition for the purpose of complying with current health standards
  • Maintain or improve the quality, appropriateness, and efficiency of work processes by monitoring the important aspects of services
  • Report equipment failure according to established guidelines
