About The Position
The Deli Clerk slices, packages, weighs, and sells deli products, including meats and cheeses, and maintains the presentation and cleanliness of deli displays and the department. The role assists Members with product selection, questions, calls, and special orders, and helps deliver a safe, positive, and service-focused experience. The position receives, inspects, displays, stocks, rotates, and stores products according to food-safety, freshness, and handling procedures. It checks product quality and dates, prepares special orders and party trays, operates deli equipment safely, sanitizes equipment and food surfaces, and ensures scales work and products are weighed and priced accurately. Team members follow club policies and standards, attend work regularly, and may perform other duties or work in other departments as needed.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in a deli department.
- Prior experience operating manual or power slicers and scales.
- Knowledge of deli products.
Responsibilities
- Provide a high level of customer service, answer Member questions and calls, recommend deli items, and take special orders.
- Slice, package, and weigh meats, cheeses, and other deli products; help Members select products and provide samples.
- Prepare and package special orders and party trays.
- Receive and inspect deli shipments, and display, stock, rotate, and store products according to food-safety, freshness, and handling policies.
- Check products for freshness and expiration dates, meet company quality standards, and follow product salvage procedures.
- Maintain a variety of products on deli cooler shelves and in display cases.
- Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
- Clean and sanitize deli equipment and food surfaces, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
- Ensure scale systems are working and items are accurately weighed and priced.
- Follow club policies and procedures and contribute to daily GOLD Member and club standards.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and positive environment for Members and team members.
- Attend work regularly and predictably; perform other duties as assigned, including work in other departments as needed.
