About The Position

The Deli Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market helps customers make healthy food choices by preparing fresh, convenient meals. The role provides customer service and ensures deli products are prepared, packaged, presented, stocked, and rotated appropriately. It also involves preparing special orders and party trays, receiving and inspecting products, operating deli equipment, and maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary work areas. The position takes place in a fast-paced grocery environment and may require working in cooler and freezer conditions.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience in grocery, restaurant, or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Be dependable and reliable.
Demonstrate friendly, outgoing behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
Be able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Be able to answer phones and take special orders.
Be able to lift and carry products weighing up to 70 pounds, from 4 to 60 inches high and up to 20 feet, without mechanical assistance, for up to 4 hours.
Be able to stand continuously for up to 4 hours and for a total of 8 hours per shift.
Be able to work in different temperature environments, including coolers and freezers.
Be able to operate a slicer, wrapping equipment, and cooking equipment.
Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.

Responsibilities

Help customers make healthy food choices by preparing fresh and easy meals.
Provide a high level of customer service and ensure deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented.
Maintain cleanliness in the deli department.
Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays.
Prepare special orders and party trays.
Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment according to company standards and procedures.
Clean and maintain deli areas and equipment, including shelves and products; keep floors free of spills and hazardous debris and sweep as needed.
Receive, inspect, and log products to verify shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
Perform general housekeeping and clean and sanitize work areas, including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers.
Assist in maintaining equipment in safe working condition.
Follow safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
