About The Position

As a Deli Clerk, you prepare fresh food and create a welcoming experience for customers. You help customers choose deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and prepared items, and prepare grab-and-go options. You also keep the department stocked, clean, and organized throughout the day by preparing hot and cold items, maintaining displays, and monitoring product freshness and temperature. The role involves taking orders, restocking, and using food preparation equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to operate slicers and food preparation equipment after training and in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Basic math skills for weighing, portioning, and transactions.
• Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfort standing for extended periods, lifting products up to 35 pounds, and working in varying temperatures.
• Clear communication, attention to detail, organization, time management, adaptability, and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior food service or customer service experience.
• Experience preparing deli products, including slicing, assembling, and portioning.
• Knowledge of deli meats, cheeses, prepared foods, and hot case items.
• Cash-handling experience using register systems.

Responsibilities

• Help customers select deli meats, cheeses, hot foods, and prepared items; take orders in person or by phone.
• Slice, assemble, portion, and prepare deli products and grab-and-go items.
• Keep display cases stocked, clean, organized, and visually consistent.
• Monitor product freshness and temperature.
• Process transactions and provide accurate change using register systems, as applicable.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, company procedures, and equipment safety guidelines.
