About The Position

Join the Festival Foods Team as a Part-Time Deli Clerk! Are you passionate about food service and enjoy providing customers (we call them guests!) with delicious meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? We are seeking a Deli Clerk to join our team in our retail grocery store environment, where you'll play a crucial role in food preparation and guest service. At Festival Foods, we’re all about making mealtime easier and more enjoyable for our guests. Whether they're grabbing a quick lunch, a side dish, a fast food option for dinner, or feeding a crowd, our deli has them covered.

Requirements

  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
  • Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Full range of upper body motion.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent guest service, including friendly greetings, answering questions, and addressing concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Helping guests locate items on or off the sales floor and professionally answering the Deli Department telephone.
  • Receiving, preparing, and fulfilling guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
  • Addressing guest concerns and resolving issues promptly using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
  • Inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures, and replenishing all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
  • Maintaining proper inventory levels in the deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
  • Leading by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
  • Ensuring all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
  • Maintaining regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and providing adequate notice for occasional absences.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
