About The Position

The Deli Clerk works in Sprouts Farmers Market’s deli department, preparing and cooking meals and helping customers make healthy food choices. The role provides customer service while ensuring deli products are properly prepared, packaged, presented, and maintained. It also involves keeping the department and equipment clean, safe, and sanitary; operating deli equipment according to company standards; and receiving and checking product shipments. The position requires working in a fast-paced environment and a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working in grocery, restaurant, or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Be dependable and reliable.
Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact with customers.
Have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Be able to answer phones and take special orders.
Be able to lift and carry product weighing up to 70 pounds, from 4 to 60 inches, for up to 20 feet without mechanical assistance, for up to 4 hours.
Be able to stand continuously for up to 4 hours and for a total of 8 hours per shift.
Be able to work in different temperature environments, including coolers and freezers.
Operate a slicer, wrapping equipment, and cooking equipment.

Responsibilities

Help customers make healthy food choices by preparing fresh and easy meals.
Provide a high level of customer service and ensure deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented.
Maintain cleanliness of the deli department.
Fill, maintain, and rotate products and displays.
Prepare special orders and party trays; answer phones and take special orders.
Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, wrapping and cooking equipment, and other deli equipment according to company standards and procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area and equipment, including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping.
Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
Perform general housekeeping and clean and sanitize the work area, including tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, and freezers.
Assist in maintaining equipment in safe working condition.
Follow safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
