About The Position

Good Foods Co-op is seeking a Prepared Foods Buyer & Receiver who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about natural foods. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys purchasing, inventory management, vendor relationships, and maintaining efficient operations across multiple food production departments. You'll play a key role in ensuring our Kitchen, Bakery, and Café teams have the products and ingredients they need to succeed. In this role, you’ll support purchasing, receiving, and inventory operations across the Prepared Foods Department.

Requirements

  • Previous grocery, retail, purchasing, receiving, or inventory management experience
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with invoices, inventory systems, and purchasing processes
  • Comfortable using computer systems, email, and inventory management software
  • Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Communicates effectively with vendors, team members, and customers
  • Interest in natural and organic foods and cooperative values
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years previous retail, grocery or receiving experience required
  • Basic proficiency with computer applications and programs including email, Catapult, and operations related applications
  • High level of interest in natural and organic foods
  • High level of interest in the cooperative business structure and in the long-term sustainability of locally-owned, independent businesses preferred
  • Very strong work ethic and demonstrable attention to detail
  • Must be a fast, focused, and hardworking person
  • Experience working with the public
  • Experience with diverse cultures and backgrounds preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and purchasing products for the Kitchen, Bakery, and Café departments
  • Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring timely replenishment of ingredients and supplies
  • Receiving deliveries and verifying product quality, accuracy, and condition
  • Processing invoices, coding purchases, and maintaining accurate pricing and cost information
  • Managing vendor relationships and communicating regarding credits, shortages, and quality concerns
  • Negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers when appropriate
  • Organizing warehouse, cooler, freezer, and dry storage areas for efficiency and food safety
  • Maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting regular inventory counts
  • Monitoring margins, purchasing budgets, and product costs to support department profitability
  • Tracking deliveries and maintaining receiving documentation
  • Ensuring all purchased products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Supporting food safety, sanitation, and operational standards throughout receiving and storage areas
  • Collaborating with department managers and shift leads to ensure products are available when needed
