About The Position

The Deli Associate works independently to prepare, fry, package, display, and stock deli products while contributing to the store’s financial interests. The role is responsible for meeting company standards for guest experience, safety, and food safety. Associates may also be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs. The position is performed in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Detail-oriented.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Prepare and produce deli products according to the production planner.
Package and label deli products according to the program plan.
Merchandise deli products according to the flight plan and merchandising expectations.
Stock the backroom with deli products, rotating and dating cases and buckets.
Work with other departments and stores to support growth in SpartanNash retail stores.
Notify the Deli Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Communicate completed tasks, recipes, weights and measures, and cleaning steps to other associates.
Follow personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments when assigned based on customer experience needs.
Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
