About The Position

McKinnon's Market & Super Butcher Shop is looking for a friendly, dependable Deli Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with customers, takes pride in keeping a clean and organized department, and works well as part of a team. Deli experience is helpful but not required-we're happy to train the right candidate. Pay is commensurate with experience and overall fit.

Requirements

Friendly, positive and customer-focused attitude
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and coworkers
Ability to safely use knives, slicers and other cutting equipment after training
Dependable, attentive and able to work well as part of a team
Ability to follow instructions and maintain high standards for cleanliness and food safety
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts of up to 8–10 hours
Frequently bend, reach, stoop and climb
Lift and move heavy products and supplies without assistance
Perform repetitive hand and arm movements with good manual dexterity
Work in areas with varying temperatures, including refrigerated coolers
Safely use box cutters, knives and other department equipment
Ability to Commute: Portsmouth, NH 03801 (Required)
Ability to Relocate: Portsmouth, NH 03801: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Nice To Haves

Deli experience is helpful
Basic knowledge of deli products is preferred

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide prompt, friendly service with a smile
Assist customers with deli selections and answer product questions
Slice, weigh, package, label and price deli products accurately
Stock, organize and rotate merchandise to maintain freshness and quality
Keep displays attractive, full and properly arranged
Maintain back stock in a clean and orderly manner
Safely operate knives, slicers and other deli equipment
Follow all food-safety, sanitation and workplace-safety procedures
Keep the department and surrounding work areas clean, well maintained and organized
Help create a safe, clean and welcoming shopping environment
Perform other duties as assigned
